Effect of Different Post-Core Materials on the Final Color of In-Ceram and IPS Empress Ceramic Restorations In-Ceram ve IPS Empress Seramik

Objective: In this study, the effects of ceramic, chromium-nickel (Cr-Ni) and ceramic opaque sinterized on chromium-nickel (Cr-Ni+opaque) post-core materials and different colored (opaque white, white, yellow and brown) cements on final color of all-ceramics materials (In-Ceram, IPS Empress and IPS Empress II) were investigated. Material and Methods: Three groups of post-cores (ceramic, Cr-Ni and Cr-Ni+opaque), 10 samples per each group, were prepared as discs 14 ± 0.5 mm in diameter and 1.5 ± 0.05 mm in thickness. Additionally, a total of 40 cement samples, 10 per each group (opaque white, white, yellow and brown) were prepared as discs 14 ± 0.05 mm in diameter and 0.1 ± 0.01 mm in thickness. One sample of three different dental ceramics (In-Ceram, IPS Empress and IPS Empress II) was prepared as discs in similar dimensions. The effect of post-core materials was evaluated on the final color. In each group, while one cement color and one all ceramic material remained constant, 30 post-core specimens which were prepared by 3 different materials were studied. A total of 36 groups were established, in which each group contained a post-core, a resin cement and a ceramic disc. The color configurations were assessed with 396 measures with a colorimeter per each group. Bovine dentin was placed instead of post-core materials as for control samples and measured with a colorimeter. Results and conclusion: In the evaluation of postcore materials, for the In-Ceram system, all three post-core materials were found to be within clinically acceptable limits (∆E <2). For the IPS Empress sysÖZET Amaç: Bu çalışmada, seramik, krom-nikel ve opak kaplanmış krom-nikel post-core materyalleri ve opak beyaz, beyaz, sarı ve kahverengi siman (Variolink II) renkleri kullanılarak, bunların tam seramik restorasyonların (In-Ceram, IPS Empress ve IPS Empress II) sonuç rengine etkileri incelenmiştir. Materyal ve Metod: Post-core materyallerinden 14 ± 0.5 mm çapında ve 1.5 ± 0.05 mm kalınlığında her gruptan 10 adet olmak üzere toplam 30 adet disk hazırlandı. Ayrıca 14 ± 0.5 mm çapında ve 1.1 ± 0.01 mm kalınlığında her gruptan 10 adet olmak üzere toplam 40 adet siman diskte hazırlandı. Tam seramik materyallerden de post-core’larla aynı çapta ve kalınlıkta birer adet disk yapıldı. Her grupta bir adet siman rengi ve bir adet tam seramik sabit tutuldu, 10 tane farklı post-core örneği çalışıldı. Bir adet post-core, bir adet siman ve bir adet tam seramik disk üst üste konularak, toplam 36 grup oluşturuldu ve kolorimetre ile toplam 396 ölçüm yapıldı. Sığır dentininden elde edilen disk, post-core materyalinin yerine konularak kontrol örnekleri oluşturuldu ve kolorimetrede ölçüldü. Bulgular ve Sonuç: In-Ceram sistemi için her üç post-core materyali de klinik olarak kabul edilebilir sınırlarda bulundu (∆E <2).
